WUWHS 2016

Florence, Italy. September 25-29, 2016

The organization of our next meeting is entering its most intense phase. The guiding principles behind our motto “One Vision, One Mission” were developed not just for the WUWHS 2016 but also to summarize a precise objective in a few clear words: to promote with determination a greater coalescence and integration of all the Scientific Societies around the world that have the care of skin wounds as their main mission.

The 5th World Congress to be held in Florence from the 25th to the 29th of September 2016 is, therefore, another important step for our Association. The most pressing objective is to develop and implement projects to strengthen the central role of the WUWHS which needs to become more of a worldwide scientific point of reference and a standard for innovation and translational research into the management of skin wounds together with the improvement of the quality of life of afflicted patients and their families.

We are working toward making the Italian edition of the World Congress a highly innovative and valuable contribution to our medical professions at all levels: physicians, nurses and all those who work in contact with skin wounds on a daily basis.  It is crucial that the WUWHS 2016 be not just an opportunity for debate but also an important training opportunity for all of us.

WUWHS 2016 will offer an extensive scientific program including numerous symposia, training sessions, workshops and focus sessions with leading international experts in the field of wound management.

The WUWHS 2016 will be an important moment of cultural unity, an essential scientific round-table and professional exchange for wound care specialists from around the world.

Florence, with its historical, artistic and cultural heritage, is waiting for us. The historic ‘Fortezza da Basso’ has been chosen as the venue for hosting the WUWHS 2016. This masterpiece of Renaissance military architecture was commissioned by Alessandro De Medici, ruler of the city at the time of the poet Dante Alighieri’s birth.

Florence, cradle of the Italian Renaissance, boasts an astonishing beauty that deserves a visit at least once in a lifetime.

The WUWHS 2016 will be an amazing experience, both scientific and research-wise but also a great opportunity to step into the charm, history and culture of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

I am proud to give you a warm welcome to Florence and look forward to seeing you all.

Yours sincerely,

Marco Romanelli
President WUWHS 2016 Congress
President Elect WUWHS
